With the many workout programs available today, you might be wondering about the T25 and how it works. Is it doable? What are the effects after completing all the workouts? You’re not alone, as many people also have the same queries! So read on to learn more about the T25 Total Body Circuit and see if it’s worth following!
About the T25 Total Body Circuit
The T25 Total Body Circuit is a workout series made by Shaun Thompson, who is responsible for creating the Insanity workout series, too. He’s also a coach from Beachbody, which is the popular fitness company that made P90X. He graduated from Rowan University with a bachelor’s degree in sports science, along with a minor in theater and dance.
With his academics and experience, he isn’t a stranger to crafting exercise programs known to show results. The videos can be found online or through DVD, and the entire program is a highly intense full-body routine.
The entire program is based on high-intensity interval training (HIIT) which continues to become popular, to work at a higher intensity for short amounts of time to lose body fat, increase lean muscle tissue, lose weight, and improve one’s overall health and fitness.
It’s similar to the likes of Insanity and P90X BUT made for those who don’t have much time to spare throughout the day. Instead of workouts lasting for longer than 45 minutes, they are only 25 minutes long and done daily. However, there are NO breaks in any workout, you’ll be moving from one move to another immediately!
The T25 Total Body Circuit program has 10 different workouts that are 25 minutes each.
What’s great is that you need NO equipment to start this program besides a fitness band that already comes with the program, as it will focus on cardio and bodyweight exercises. You should have gym clothes and an exercise mat, as well as a jug of water prepared to stay hydrated.
As for its cost, the DVD workout is about $74 on Amazon and Beachbody, with an optional workout phase costing around $67. It’s better to purchase from Beachbody, as it comes at a similar price range with added offers. However, take a look at such bonuses and if they are hidden costs, along with the shipping fees with it.
You can also find workout videos online or from other third-party sellers that may offer better packages or cheaper prices. Just be wary to avoid being scammed!
Example Workout for Beginners: The T25 Alpha Total Body Circuit
How does the T25 workout program work?
You will start with the Alpha phase, which is best for beginners and those starting. It includes 5 workouts:
- T25 Alpha Cardio
- T25 Alpha Speed 1.0
- T25 Alpha Total Body Circuit
- T25 Alpha Ab Intervals
- T25 Alpha Lower Focus
You will do one workout a day for the first 4 days, then 2 workouts on the 5th day. Afterward, you can skip one day, and then perform the stretching video on the last day.
Then for the next 5 weeks, you’ll be increasing the intensity and going for more challenging workouts, which is part of the Beta phase. It includes another set of 5 workouts that are 25 minutes each.
- T25 Cardio (core)
- Speed 2.0
- Rip’t Circuit
- Dynamic Core
- Upper Focus
There is also a third phase that is optional and not included with the T25 program, which is called Gamma. It includes 4 DVDs and a recommended diet plan so you can lose weight and reach your goals.
In each video, Shaun would focus on one area per exercise, which is either the upper body, lower body, or cardio, for about one minute each until the body part is fatigued. After that, you’ll move on to work in another area.
Is It Effective and Who Can Use It?
There have been studies that show how HIIT is an effective method to reduce fat, enhance muscle development, and improve one’s overall fitness. It’s also a smarter workout program as you exercise even harder for a short amount of time. After all, it isn’t about how long a workout lasts, but the intensity and exercises it brings for better results.
This workout program isn’t considered a fad workout, as there isn’t enough evidence to support HIIT’s effectiveness. However, one can consider this as a popular and trendy workout from its smart marketing strategies.
But when you see its principles and methods, they are sound and do show results, as long as it’s followed properly. That’s why it’s not a fad workout and does have its positive testimonials.
Who should be doing the T25, though? Or is it open for anyone?
Take note that the T25 total body circuit workout program is intense and high-impact, and again, it has NO breaks throughout the 25-minute session. You can modify some of its exercises if you can’t perform the move, though this might not be best even for those new to fitness training.
However, there’s potential for anyone to use this workout program, provided that it’s applied properly. Regular exercises who are under 40 years old for males or 45 years old for females can use this program to lose weight and gain muscle.
So if you already work out regularly, then this program can give you the challenge you need so you can step up your performance! But if you’re completely new to the world of fitness, it’s best to find workout programs that are more suitable for your level.
This is probably one of the only major disadvantages of T25, as this is a commercial workout program that doesn’t provide customized workouts according to one’s fitness levels. However, this is understandable, as it’s a difficult task if you’d like to reach a wider mass audience.
Furthermore, because this is HIIT we’re talking about, you should take health assessments and consult your doctor before pushing through with the program. Those who are at risk of heart disease need to rule out any dangerous effects of joining the program.
Furthermore, pregnant women and those who suffer from joint pain, and arthritis, among other physical limitations should avoid high-impact movies. It’s still possible to follow T25, but with low-impact versions of exercises to prevent injury and worsening of conditions.
Wrapping It Up
I know how difficult it is to find a suitable workout program, and if you are considering T25, then you’re in for a treat! While it’s very intense and isn’t for everyone, it’s a great program that works all major muscle groups, including the core muscles. Furthermore, it gives you aerobic exercises we all need weekly, with each workout only being 25 minutes long!
