Updated July 2026. Waist trimmers are neoprene belts worn around the midsection during exercise. They increase sweating in the abdominal area, which can lead to temporary water weight loss. They do NOT burn belly fat or create lasting weight loss. I’ve tested three different waist trimmers over the past year, and while they can help with posture and core temperature during training, they are not a magic solution for losing belly fat. Below is everything you need to know before buying one.

Waist trimmers work by creating a sauna-like effect around your midsection. The neoprene material traps heat and increases sweating. They are not a fat loss tool.
