Have you heard some of the excuses that you hear people say as to why they cannot make time for exercise? They are too busy, too tired or just, I don’t like exercising or can’t afford a gym membership. They simply must carry on living the unhealthy lifestyle filled with junk food and feeling out of breath just by climbing a set of stairs.
These are the people that will find an excuse for anything. In reality, the only reason why they are not exercising is due to a lack of self-discipline. With a good workout possible in just 30 minutes, anyone can fit time in to work up a sweat…and you don’t need a gym membership either.
Changing Your Mindset
Much of the reason why so many don’t exercise on a regular basis is because, in their head, exercising is not a necessity and, if anything, is a luxury. That is the completely wrong mindset to adopt as exercise – and just generally looking after your body – should be regarded as an important part of your weekly activity.
When you change your mentality towards fitness, you are more than halfway to winning the battle. The realization that exercise is something you need, rather than something you want, is a ground-breaking moment when the penny finally drops. Now, you can work towards shifting those extra pounds around your waist and working towards achieving a level of fitness you have never experienced.
You don’t need to pay for a gym membership in order to work up a sweat, although many do prefer to be able to head to a dedicated facility where they can get in the zone. You can just as easily workout from the comfort of your own home both with and without equipment at your disposal.
Running is a popular activity for those just getting started on their fitness journey, largely because all you need are some comfortable clothes and a decent pair of running trainers. You can run at your own pace for whatever distance you desire – no matter how short or slow your run, you are still leading lazy couch potatoes snacking away in front of the television.
There are other cardio workouts for beginners that you can incorporate into your routine, but you should also make sure to include strength training, too. Far too many make the mistake of focusing solely on cardio when they want to lose weight, completely forgetting that lifting weights also burns calories ultimately losing weight.
Maintaining Your Regime
Once started, you don’t want to let your regime slip – when you miss one day, you miss two and so on and so forth. Before you know it, you are back to square one where you are having to buy shirts in a larger size. To avoid this happening to you, schedule the days and times when you will be working out and have an idea in mind as to what type of training you will be carrying out.
You are also much more likely to maintain your fitness when you enjoy exercise, so if you find that you aren’t enjoying any part of your workout, mix it up and try something different. It’s much better to change your routine than to drop it altogether.
Don’t Listen to Jealousy
When you incorporate fitness into your life and your circle of friends and family see the changes, both physically and mentally, don’t allow for any jealousy to bring you down. If anyone has anything negative to say about your new approach to life, just remember that it is merely a projection of their own insecurities.
